Just few days before the Diesel family celebrated their xXx, Jeff Carvalho and Michael Williams had the opportunity to sit down with 55DSL’s Creative Director and owner Andrea Rosso in the brand new New York City’s showroom.

They spoke for Highsnobiety about 55DSL and the market, the brand’s heritage and the dreams for the future, the trips to Japan and the USA, up to his happy childhood in the fashion industry and his streetwear-inspirational teenage in Bassano.

Read the more recent Andrea’s word on the hypest blog in the globe, the forefront of lifestyle and street culture, and don’t miss the chance to have a look at the upcoming 55DSL’s Spring-Summer 2009 15th Anniversary Collection!

I can say it ’cause I was there: at the amazing worldwide event for the 30th anniversary of Diesel company my bra’ Andrea was having a great time! Have a look at the gallery by clicking the link below…

New York city was the last between 17 places, beginning from Tokyo, to celebrate the company birthday. Performing live were some of the best artists of this time: M.I.A., N*E*R*D., T.I., Franz Ferdinand and Hot Chip.

With biggest surprise the British songwriter M.I.A. was rockying in the stage with a big belly…. YES! She’s pregnant! Congratulations!

During the show there were some amazing entertainment by professionals who were hanging on curtains all over the place. Attending the event there were more than 5000 people and many celebrities who were having lots of fun! To mention some: Lindsday Lohan, Roberto Cavalli, Michelle Williams, Rick Rock, Zoe Kravitz, Cory Kennedy, Juliette Lewis and many more. There was only one person missing: my other bra’ Stefano. We missed youuuuuu…!

We did a lot of photos there, and the funniest part of this all thing it was probably finding out in the end that on panorama.it I appeared as the wife of my father… ah ah ah!!!

There is still the possibility to live that 11 october’s emotion by watching some videos on the Diesel’s website. And like my dad Renzo would say…. ENJOY!

Don’t miss the Style Breakdown on August/September issue of hot american magazine Complex, featuring 55DSL’s creative director and owner Andrea Rosso and his superfamous vintage leather jacket!

A few time ago, while in US, I’ve seen the best articulation of the Do-It-Yourself mindset in contemporary art ever: Beautiful Losers, Aaron Rose’s fantastic traveling exhibition and book that was bringing together the work of an amazing group of artists including Terry Richardson, ESPO, Ed Templeton, Barry McGee, Jo Jackson, Margaret Killgallen, and many others, celebrating the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural movements of a generation rooted in subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti.

If you saw the exhibition or have the book then you undoubtedly will like Beautiful Losers the Movie, 2 wonderfully shot hours of interviews with this fantastic group of artists!

This coming Friday night in New York at the IFC Center marks the US theatrical debut, and waiting for the movie coming at your place, have a look at the “beautiful” trailer here below!

Check the Andrea’s adventures at the 2008 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, shooted by a special guest photographer, 55DSL family’s Alessia, in the main site’s galleries page!

The Canadian band Thunderheist recently had a music video contest for their forthcoming 12″ “Jerk It” for young creatives all over the world, and finally the winners have been announced!

Noël Paul & Stefan Moore from That Go studio made a video which, as Thunderheist said, “will inevitably get airplay on Much Music, MTV and who knows where else”! The video is really cool, featuring rainbow zebra tights, a superhot chick and non other than a live chicken!

You can also have a look at the finalists by clicking here, but I totally agree with the oscar assignation this time!

During his visit to the 2008 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the 55DSL’s creative director Andrea Rosso found the time, between a Justice’s gig and a Diplo’s set, to meet Richard Thomas from BPM Magazine for a brief interview on his hard-work experience as a fashion-eyed paparazzo, with few anticipations on the 55DSL’s upcoming Fall-Winter 08 “Low Noise High Quality” collection.

Don’t miss the Andrea’s word on music festivals and streetwear in the BPM article here.

This student graduating from the Glasgow School of Art’s, for his visual communication final project, grouped togheter a collection of old redundant hardware and, in his words, “placed them in a situation where they’re trying their best to do something that they’re not exactly designed to do”.

The results really rock! With a Sinclair ZX Spectrum as Guitars, an Epson LX-81 Dot Matrix Printer as Drums, an HP Scanjet 3c as Bass Guitar and a collection of bad speakers as Vocals & FX he remixed “Nude” by Radiohead, basing his idea on the lyric and alternate title of the song: “Big Ideas: Don’t get any”…

I really love old school hardwares and, above all, big ideas like this!
