Beyond Mountains, More Mountains: Instagram Competition

In our new short film Beyond Mountains, More Mountains our stars Simone and Viktorija stumble upon the wonderful Carnevale di Viareggio (The Carnival Of Viareggio) in their eventful quest for the lost boot.

So to celebrate our new film, 55DSL are giving you and a friend the chance to be at Viareggio carnival in February 2013. All you have to do is express a little bit of your creativity by entering our ‘picture postcard’ themed Instagram competition here.

To find out more about Carnevale di Viareggio, take a look on our interactive map of Italy.

Speaking of competitions, we recently whisked the lucky winner of our ROMA campaign – Michele Janezic – away to Rome (well, where else?), to enjoy all the incredible sights and delights the city has to offer. Michele took some great snaps along the way, and wrote to us some super kind words when she got home:

Thank you 55DSL and Vice magazine for sponsoring a trip of my dreams. From the moment I arrived, I was inspired by its rich culture, historical monuments, beautiful language and endless moments of awe. Rome is a spectacular city with inspiring sites that left me speechless, delicious cuisine, and warm and friendly people. I was continuously overwhelmed by the history, age and beauty of the ancient city. Experiencing the Colosseum, Vatican, and Pantheon in person was tremendous. I felt like I stepped back in time and into a film set when I first turned a corner and saw the Trevi fountain. Even a rainfall on the first day added to the romantic and nostalgic atmosphere.

Being able to invite a friend was an incredible bonus and she was equally grateful and excited to join. We traversed the alley and cobblestoned city by foot, which was the perfect way to explore and discover surprises along the way. We tasted new discoveries from the neighborhood markets, stopped for cappucino’s at different cafes, strolled along the river and admired many of the elegantly ornate basilicas. We practiced our limited Italian with friendly shop and restaurant owners and couldn’t get enough of the Roman fare – paper-thin crusted pizza, fresh homemade pasta, creamy gelato, farm fresh cheeses and meats and fine wine.

Many times, I felt as if I was living within a dream and this incredible opportunity is one I will never forget. I am deeply thankful for the wonderful and memorable adventure.

Molte grazie!

Michele Janezic
